そろそろ皆さんご承知のことと思いますが、Mastodon v2.7.4をお使いの方は、

git fetch
git checkout v2.8.0

として全部切り替えるのであれば問題ありませんが、

git merge v2.8.0

のように、v2.7.4 -> v2.8.0 という移行を行おうとすると、うまくいきません。

v2.7.4は、v2.8.0から必要なものだけを適用したバージョン（バックポートリリース）であるためです。

直系の先祖にあたるリリースは、v2.7.1になります。

v2.7.1からであれば、mergeしても大丈夫です。

v2.7.2、v2.7.3、v2.7.4は、枝分かれした分家筋（stableブランチ）で、本家筋とは似て非なるものです。
